Research shows that the most common causes of decreased mobility in the elderly are loss of strength and fitness. Agewell's Strength and Fitness class draws on current research to improve the strength and fitness of those muscle groups most likely to impact on an elderly person's independent mobility. Residents are fully assessed prior to attending a class and their progress is monitored 3 monthly or more regularly if changes have occurred. |

Falls Prevention Programme Agewell Physiotherapy's Falls Prevention Program is based on current research and has been shown to decrease falls in elderly residents by 20% per year. The program consists of an individual assessment and attendance at a regular Falls Prevention class. Residents are re-assessed regularly to document improvement and allow the program to be tailored to individual needs. All of our Falls Prevention Trainers are Physiotherapists who have been accredited in Falls Prevention through Monash University. Preventing Falls is beneficial to all elderly people as it reduces the amount of injuries that they suffer. This also has a cost benefit to proprietors and should be considered essential to every facility. The Falls Prevention Programme can be conducted in any facility as it can be tailored to any level of ability. A Falls Prevention Programme can be conducted whether or not the facility has a regular physiotherapist.
